BUL edge Blacks Power to maintain winning streak

BUL FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Blacks Power in an action-packed Uganda Premier League clash at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Tuesday.

The visitors had an early penalty claim turned down in the 16th minute when Innocent Maduka went on a brilliant solo run, weaving past his markers before being brought down in the box, only for the referee to wave play on.

Blacks Power made their early pressure count four minutes later, breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute. Mike Siu delivered a precise cross that Oscar Otim neatly directed into the back of the net.

The hosts responded firmly, with new signing Lawrence Olobora bringing BUL back on level terms with a thunderous strike, set up by Derrick Byabazi.

Seeking to regain control, Blacks Power introduced fresh legs in midfield at the start of the second half.

However, it was BUL who capitalised on their momentum ten minutes after the restart, as Simon Achidi fired the hosts into the lead.

The final ten minutes saw relentless action at both ends. Siu came agonisingly close to equalising for the visitors, but his powerful effort missed the target by inches.

Moments later, Achidi missed a golden opportunity to put the game to bed after Mpasa raced down the byline and delivered a low cutback, only for the ball to roll across an unguarded net.

Both sides entered the fixture boasting 100% records, but BUL’s resilience earned them all three points. The victory pushes BUL to the top of the league table, while Blacks Power slips to third.
