Rumphi Central Member of Parliament and 2025 UTM presidential running mate, Engineer Dr. Matthews Mtumbuka, has urged politicians to support churches regardless of the size of their congregations, saying they all play an important role in promoting spiritual wellbeing and community development.
Mtumbuka made the call on Friday when he attended the African Church Regional Annual Conference at Chikwawa in Rumphi, where he donated assorted items worth K2 million to the gathering.
He said local Churches also have significant followings and make meaningful contributions to society.
“I have come to welcome all the delegates of the African Church from across the Northern Region and convey the message of congratulations from the people of Rumphi Central Constituency as you host the Annual Regional Conference,” he said.
Mtumbuka commended the African Church for its continued work in uplifting the spiritual wellbeing of Malawians.
African Church Northern Region Head, Khomezga Mhango, hailed Mtumbuka for demonstrating what he described as God-centred leadership.
Mhango also announced plans by the church to construct a multi-purpose complex at Bwengu in Mzimba, comprising a Vocational School , hospital among others .
