Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said under his administration, nobody will be arrested unless the person does wrong thing and there is not going to be molestation of citizens.
Speaking on Global Digital Town on Sunday, the former Anambra state governor, said Nigerians need a president that will be law-abiding and respect the Constitution of Nigeria as well as not be above the people he serves.
Obi said: “as president, nobody will be arrested unless the person does the wrong thing. Nobody will be molested. Everybody will live.
“We need a new Nigeria where the law and order will be supreme. Where respect for other people’s lives will be guaranteed another. Where people can live freely. Go about their businesses and their professions and their lives knowing fully well that the government is their own government. The president, I repeat must lead in the front…,he said.
Obi said his antecedents in private life and as a governor of Anambra state was enough evidence for Nigerians to entrust him with their mandate.
The NDC presidential candidate said the party would work with support groups and movements towards actualising the goal to win the presidency and other offices in next year’s polls.
He thanked all those who participated in the townhall and
urged millions of Nigerians who still believe in possibility of a new country not to give up.
“Many millions are still staying with the cause and I urge them, please, do not give up. Those millions who still believe that Nigeria can change are the ones who want to mobilise.
“So come out and vote, so that people will see a difference between where a leader is committed and is prepared to serve the people, which is what we are committed to,” Obi concluded.
