ZiG inflation rises to 4.3% in October, says ZIMSTAT
Zimbabwe’s annual inflation rate for the local currency, the Zimbabwe Gold, rose to 4.3 per cent in October, up from 3.7 per cent in September, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) said on Monday.
ZIMSTAT said the increase, measured by the all-items Consumer Price Index, came amid pressure on domestic prices, with rising fuel and transport costs partly linked to global crude oil prices and logistics expenses.
“The ZWG year-on-year inflation rate for the month of October 2026 as measured by the all-items Consumer Price Index was 4.3 per cent, gaining 0.6 percentage points on the September rate of 3.7 per cent,” the agency said.
The mean month-on-month ZWG inflation rate between January and October 2026 was 0.4 per cent, compared with an average of 1.2 per cent between January and December 2025.
Meanwhile, annual inflation measured in US dollars eased to 3.2 per cent in October, down 0.3 percentage points from 3.5 per cent in September. ZIMSTAT said the rate was calculated using the all-items US dollar Consumer Price Index.
The agency also said the Total Consumption Poverty Line for one person stood at ZWG1,354 in October.
“This means that an individual required that much to purchase both non-food and food items as at October 2026 in order not to be deemed poor. The TCPL represents the minimum total income needed for an individual not to be deemed poor,” ZIMSTAT said.
