SENJEH DISTRICT, Bomi County, October 26, 2026: National Port Authority (NPA) Managing Director Sekou A. M. Dukuly has challenged graduates of Mano Central High School to overcome adversity, pursue excellence and contribute to the development of their communities, describing young people as Bomi County’s greatest resource.
Delivering the commencement address to approximately 230 students of the school’s 17th graduating class on Sunday, October 25, Dukuly emphasized that education, integrity and determination are essential to personal success and national development.
“The greatest treasure this county ever held was never buried in the ground. It is sitting right here, in graduation gowns,” he declared.
Speaking on the theme, “Your Beginning Is Not Your Destiny,” the NPA boss encouraged graduates not to allow poverty, financial difficulties or other challenges to limit their ambitions.
Drawing on his personal experience, Dukuly recalled growing up in Suehn Mecca District before securing a scholarship to Morocco and subsequently pursuing higher education in the United States.
He earned a degree in accounting from the University of North Dakota and a Master of Business Administration from Augsburg University.
“If it could happen for one child of Bomi, it can happen for another. It can happen for you,” he told the graduates.
Dukuly urged the students to uphold the school’s motto, “Honesty and Diligence,” stressing that academic qualifications must be accompanied by good character and personal discipline.
“Your diploma will open doors. Your character will decide whether you stay in the room,” he emphasized.
He encouraged graduates to pursue university education, vocational training, entrepreneurship or other career opportunities while seeking mentorship and setting achievable goals.
The NPA Managing Director also underscored the importance of skilled professionals in Liberia’s development, noting that institutions such as the National Port Authority require competent engineers, accountants and other professionals with strong ethical values.
He referenced President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, urging young people to prepare themselves to benefit from emerging opportunities.
“The President is building the roads. Your education will decide how far you travel on them,” Dukuly stated.
He further challenged graduates to use their future achievements to improve their communities and create opportunities for others.
“In the end, you will not be measured only by how high you climb. You will be measured by how many people you lift,” he concluded.
Dukuly was accompanied to the ceremony by Deputy Information Minister Daniel Sanoe and senior officials of the National Port Authority.
