‘I was evil’: Mary Luswata apologises to Juliana
Media personality Mary Luswata has apologised to singer Juliana Kanyomozi for comments she made following the loss of the singer’s baby, admitting that her remarks were hurtful and unnecessary.
In a recent interview, Luswata reflected on her past conduct and acknowledged that she crossed a line when Juliana was going through a painful period in her life.
“I took it a little too far when Juliana lost her baby. I was evil. That is me taking accountability,” she said.
Asked whether she would apologise to Juliana, Luswata initially questioned whether the singer wanted an apology. She subsequently addressed Juliana directly, expressing regret over what she had said at the time.
“When you lost your baby, Juliana, I was young, I was stupid, I was excited,” Luswata said.
She added that becoming a mother herself had changed how she viewed her earlier remarks, giving her a different understanding of the vulnerability and emotions associated with parenthood.
“Now God has given me my own children just to reveal how stupid I was to say what I said,” she said.
Luswata, who built a public persona around being outspoken and unapologetic, said she now recognised that her comments had been inconsiderate and driven by ego.
“For someone who prided herself on being unapologetic, I am apologetic to you, Juliana,” she said. “That was inconsiderate, unnecessary, bordering on ego. I am sorry.”
The apology marks a moment of reflection for Luswata, who has publicly acknowledged the harm her words may have caused and taken responsibility for her conduct towards the singer.
