The Bank of Ghana has published its daily exchange rates for Thursday, October 22, 2026, providing updated figures for the United States dollar, British pound sterling and euro against the Ghanaian cedi.
According to the figures released by the central bank, the US dollar recorded a buying rate of GH¢11.6492 and a selling rate of GH¢11.6608. The rates provide a reference for individuals and businesses monitoring the performance of the cedi against the American currency.
The British pound sterling recorded a buying rate of GH¢15.5947 and a selling rate of GH¢15.6115. The figures indicate that the pound is trading at a higher value against the Ghanaian cedi than the dollar and euro among the three currencies featured in the update.
Meanwhile, the euro was quoted at a buying rate of GH¢13.0686 and a selling rate of GH¢13.0815.
The Bank of Ghana explained that the published figures represent the average interbank exchange rates used by commercial banks for transactions at the close of business on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
The distinction between buying and selling rates is important for customers conducting foreign exchange transactions. Buying rates generally represent the rates at which banks purchase foreign currencies, while selling rates indicate the rates at which they sell those currencies to customers.
The daily exchange rate information is useful to importers, exporters, businesses, travellers and individuals who need foreign currencies for payments, international trade and other financial obligations.
However, the rates published by the central bank may differ from those offered by individual commercial banks and licensed foreign exchange bureaux. Customers are therefore encouraged to confirm the applicable rates with their preferred financial institutions before completing transactions.
The latest update provides the public with a reference point for assessing foreign currency values against the cedi as businesses and individuals make financial decisions.
The Bank of Ghana continues to publish daily exchange rate information to improve access to foreign exchange market data and support transparency in financial transactions across the country.
