Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Monday, applauded reforms instituted across diverse sectors in Nigeria, now turning indigenous firms into global brands

President Bola Tinubu had initiated the reforms, which are now supporting the transformation of indigenous companies into international brands.

These brands include Flutterwave, Moniepoint, Andela and others are leveraging the gains of the administration’s economic reforms to scale their operations and expand their businesses.

Flutterwave is an indigenous fintech company that provides payment infrastructure for global merchants and payment service providers.

Shettima, speaking when he received a courtesy visit from a delegation from Flutterwave led by its Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Olugbenga Agboola, assured the team of the federal government’s continued support within and outside Nigeria.

“We have to support and promote our own. We have to make our companies stronger”, the VP stated while commending the Flutterwave team for building one of Africa’s most compelling technology stories from Nigeria.

He attributed the feat to committed leadership and expertise at the company.

Shettima noted that worthy of mention in the Flutterwave story is the company’s “ability to solve an African problem using an indigenous solution that addresses challenges related to digital payment for products and services, among others.”

Earlier, Olugbenga Agboola, the CEO of Flutterwave, informed the Vice President that the company’s mandate is to ensure massive growth in the next couple of years to remain the giant of payments and banking across Africa and the globe.

He thanked President Tinubu, the Vice President, and the federal government for the confidence reposed in Flutterwave, noting that “it is a strategic signal of how Nigeria is supporting Nigeria” as well as a very important milestone for the company.

“Your Excellency, it’s my honour to be here today. As I said, our goal is to partner with you and your team to reason how we can do more to advance the administration’s amazing economic agenda that we have seen working right now in the country. We want to be a part of that positive story.

“We are very much a Nigerian company. I’m very much Nigerian. Nigeria is our home. And everybody here, as you can see, they’re all Nigerians. Our goal is to ensure that we do our best to help move Nigeria forward,” he stated.

Also present at the meeting were the CEO of Stanel Group, Stanley Uzochukwu and other top management staff of the company.
