Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped victim, recovered 18 rustled cattle and arrested four suspected drug peddlers during separate operations in Kebbi State.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Gusau the Zamfara State Capital.
Danja said troops of Sector 2, in conjunction with local vigilantes, responded to a distress call over terrorists who invaded Rambo Village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area with the intention of kidnapping residents and rustling cattle.
He said the troops mobilised to the community and engaged the terrorists in a gun duel.
“The decisive intervention by the troops resulted in the successful rescue of a 40-year-old resident, Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara, and the recovery of 18 rustled cattle. The rescued victim and recovered livestock were subsequently handed over to the District Head of Rambo Village for further action,” he said.
Similarly, Danja said troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), conducted coordinated raids on suspected drug trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities of Maiyama Local Government Area.
He said the joint operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
“The suspects and recovered substances are currently in the custody of the NDLEA Command in Maiyama for further investigation and necessary action,” he added.
The Joint Task Force said it remains resolute in sustaining offensive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area, while appreciating the continued support of local communities.
