Man Arrested Marrying and Impregnating 17 Year-old Girl in Ntchisi

Police in Ntchisi have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl whom he reportedly married as his third wife.

The suspect, identified as Kalikokha Mazoni of Ngwata Village, under Traditional Authority Chikho in Ntchisi, was arrested following a report made by concerned groups.

Ntchisi Police spokesperson Salomy Zgambo said Mazoni allegedly married the girl on 17 August 2026, despite her having dropped out of school in Standard Three.

According to Zgambo, the matter was reported to police, who subsequently rescued the girl from a house Mazoni had arranged for her in Mbali Village.

Police arrested Mazoni while he was at the home of his first wife.

The girl is reportedly suspected to be three months pregnant.

Mazoni is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges relating to the alleged sexual offence, as investigations continue.
