Red Pole Energy has launched a new range of 12V and 24V lithium starter batteries in South Africa, with a strong focus on trucks, mining vehicles and other heavy-duty applications.
The batteries are direct drop-in replacements for conventional starter batteries, requiring no vehicle modifications.
They carry a four-year warranty and feature a reserve-capacity function designed to reduce battery-related breakdowns.
“For fleet operators, the real cost of a starter battery failure is seldom the battery itself. It is the call-out, downtime, delayed delivery and disruption that follows,” said Wynand Pretorius, director of Red Pole Energy.
“Our aim is to provide fleet and equipment operators with a more reliable starting solution that reduces these interruptions and ultimately lowers total cost of ownership.”
The reserve-capacity function protects starting power when auxiliary equipment or other electrical loads might otherwise leave a vehicle unable to start.
While the technology is new to the South African market, it is already proven internationally and used in more than 90,000 vehicles worldwide.
Red Pole Energy has secured exclusive distribution rights for the range and is initially focusing on 24V trucks, logistics fleets, mining and heavy-duty applications, supported by a broader 12V range for commercial and other vehicles.
The Stellenbosch-based company has already engaged with distributors regarding the Southern African rollout, while several large end users have had the batteries in operational use for more than six months.
Red Pole Energy is inviting additional distribution partners, logistics fleets, mining companies and other large users to discuss distribution opportunities or evaluate the technology.
The new lithium starter battery range will be showcased at Electra Mining Africa, where distributors and end users can view the technology and meet the Red Pole Energy team.
