Real Madrid secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Barcelona in Sunday’s El Clásico at the Camp Nou with Kylian Mbappé scoring the decisive goal to hand the visitors a crucial win in the La Liga title race.

Mbappé opened the scoring shortly before half-time, giving Real Madrid the advantage after a tense first half in which both sides struggled to create clear chances. The French forward benefited from a defensive clearance that deflected off him and ended up in the net.

Barcelona responded strongly after the break and found an equaliser through Raphinha in the 61st minute. The Brazilian winger finished confidently after receiving a cleverly disguised pass from Pedri, bringing the home supporters back to life.

The hosts pushed for a winner and came close when Gerard Martín attempted a header from a corner, but Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin produced an excellent save to keep the visitors in the game.

Real Madrid remained dangerous on the counterattack, using their pace to trouble Barcelona’s defence. Their persistence paid off late in the match when Mbappé struck again in the 87th minute and a beautiful assist from Camavinga to restore Madrid’s lead and seal all three points.

The victory marked an important result for Real Madrid, strengthening their position in the title race and reducing the gap on their fierce rivals.

For Barcelona, the defeat ended their perfect start to the La Liga season and highlighted defensive weaknesses they will need to address.

The result also gave Madrid a major psychological boost in one of football’s most fiercely contested rivalries, with both teams expected to remain strong contenders for the Spanish league title.
