2027: APC, APGA Clash Over Anambra ‘Progressives Alliance’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) are trading words over claims of a political alliance in Anambra State under the slogan “progressives working together.”

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has repeatedly framed cooperation between APGA and the APC at the federal level as part of a broader progressive agenda.

But APC leaders insist the narrative is misleading.Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Ben Nwoye, dismissed the slogan as deceptive.

“We urge our supporters not to be deceived by APGA’s slogan of ‘progressives are working together.’ It is a fallacy aimed at deceiving the President and our supporters,” he said.

APC senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, Uche Ekwunife, echoed the rejection, urging party members to rally behind President Bola Tinubu and APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

“We must not be deceived. We must vote for Tinubu to enable him to complete developmental projects in the South-East,” she said.

APGA, however, maintains that the alliance is real. Party spokesman Ejimofor Opara insisted that adopting Tinubu as APGA’s presidential candidate for 2027 proves the sincerity of the “progressives working together” mantra.

“We say what we mean, and we mean what we say. That we have adopted President Bola Tinubu is enough proof,” he said.

Opara argued that APGA’s support has boosted Tinubu’s political standing in Anambra and the South-East, stressing that the party remains committed to working with the President while retaining its identity.

“Progressives will work together to ensure Tinubu is returned as President in 2027,” he added.

The disagreement underscores growing tension between the two parties as both position themselves for influence in Anambra ahead of the 2027 general elections.
