Obuasi SHTS to reopen for continuing students next week – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) says preparations are far advanced for the reopening of Obuasi Senior High Technical School for continuing students, with academic work expected to resume next week.

In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the GES on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the Service said efforts were underway to enable the affected students to return to school.

The school was temporarily closed to continuing students on August 5 following disturbances on campus.

However, first-year students have remained in school since reporting on September 18, according to the GES.

Management said arrangements were progressing to facilitate the return of continuing students, although it did not provide a specific reopening date.

“Management assures that preparations are far advanced for continuing students to return to school sometime next week,” the statement said.
