“Men Who Think With Their Stomachs Are Selling Out South Africa” Felemtwini Trashes Selfish Leaders

Durban activist Felemtwini has strongly criticised men who he says “use their stomachs to think,” accusing them of selling out the struggle for the country. Speaking during a street interview with Durban Network, he argued that South Africa does not need borders as much as it needs men who are willing to stand up and defend the nation.

Felemtwini, a well-known local voice on community and national issues, made the remarks while addressing people on the ground. His words come as local government elections approach on 4 November, with many residents in Durban and KwaZulu-Natal discussing borders, immigration, jobs and safety. He said men who put personal gain first are letting the country down at a time when strong leadership is needed.

The phrase about thinking with the stomach is familiar in South African politics. It points to people who make decisions based on hunger for money or short-term benefits instead of principle or the bigger picture. Felemtwini used it to call out those he believes are not protecting South African interests. He insisted the real need is for men prepared to defend the country rather than depending only on border fences or government promises.

His message fits into ongoing conversations in the city. Many people have raised concerns about undocumented foreigners, crime and pressure on local services. Felemtwini has previously spoken about government allowing people into the country without proper checks and about citizens feeling they come second. In this latest interview he focused on the role of ordinary men in standing firm.

Durban Network shared the clip as part of its ground coverage, encouraging residents to make their voices heard at the polls. The interview took place in a busy street setting with people gathered nearby. Felemtwini’s direct style has drawn attention on social media, with some viewers praising the platform for letting local voices speak without added opinion.

As election day draws closer, statements like these highlight the strong feelings many South Africans hold about who should benefit from the country and who should protect it. Felemtwini’s call is clear: stop thinking only about the stomach and start standing up for South Africa. Whether voters agree or not, his words add to the debate about what the nation needs right now.
