Today, President Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the annual showcase.
The show has drawn a record number of exhibitors – 640 in total – up from 613 last year, with all available exhibition space fully subscribed.
This year’s ZAS is running under the theme “Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge.”
Organisers say the focus is on agricultural innovation, technology, value chain development, and strengthening commercial linkages across the agricultural sector.
Before the official opening, President Mnangagwa is expected to tour selected stands and interact with farmers, agribusinesses, researchers, manufacturers, financiers, and other exhibitors—highlighting practical solutions to improve productivity, reduce costs, and build resilience in the face of climate change.

Vice Presidents arrive
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and Vice President Kembo Mohadi have arrived at Zimbabwe Agricultural Society offices for the official opening of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.
The two leaders were welcomed by a host of Cabinet Ministers, senior Government officials and leaders in the agricultural sector.
Vice President Chiwenga is accompanied by his wife, Dr Miniyathabo Baloyi Chiwenga.
President Mnangagwa is expected to arrive shortly.
Today’s proceedings are expected to start with the tour of exhibition stands.

President Mnangagwa has arrived for the 116th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show official opening.
He was welcomed by his two deputies, Vice Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Dr Kembo Mohadi, among other senior Government officials.
The President is now in a briefing session and is expected to tour some exhibition stands.

President Mnangagwa, as well as Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Dr Kembo Mohadi, have begun touring various exhibition stands at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.
The tour is providing the leadership with an opportunity to interact with exhibitors and get first-hand insight into innovations, products and technologies shaping the agricultural sector.
Zimbabwe’s agricultural value chain is on the spotlight, with the President and his deputies visiting stands featuring agricultural equipment, food products, livestock, technology, research and value-added products.
Exhibitors are taking the opportunity to explain their operations, demonstrate new technologies and highlight opportunities for investment and commercial partnerships.
Exhibitors are also highlighting locally produced goods and solutions aimed at increasing productivity, promoting value addition and strengthening Zimbabwe’s agricultural competitiveness.

Agric Show comes alive with colour, carnival atmosphere
The Zimbabwe Agricultural Show has come alive with colour, activity and excitement as thousands of visitors make their way through the Exhibition Park in Harare.
The showgrounds are buzzing with people moving between exhibition stands, with music, conversations and demonstrations creating a lively carnival-like atmosphere.
Rows of colourful exhibition stands showcase the diversity of Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector, with fresh produce, livestock, farm machinery, food products, financial services and locally manufactured goods competing for the attention of visitors.
The machinery and technology sections have attracted considerable attention, with visitors stopping to watch demonstrations of modern farming equipment and innovative agricultural solutions. The displays underline the growing role of technology and mechanisation in improving productivity and transforming farming into a more competitive commercial enterprise.
The livestock sections provide another major attraction, with farmers and breeders showcasing cattle, rabbits and other livestock.
Families and children have also been drawn to the colourful displays and entertainment around the showgrounds, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Presidential Guard mounts Guard of Honour ahead of President Mnangagwa’s inspection
Members of the Presidential Guard have mounted the Guard of Honour ahead of President Mnangagwa’s inspection as part of the official opening of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.
The Guard of Honour is being led by Guard Commander Tawanda Kapfudza, with the ceremonial proceedings set to begin shortly.
The Guard of Honour is one of the key ceremonial highlights of the proceedings and is expected to set the tone for the programme ahead.

ZAS reaffirms commitment to Zimbabwe’s agricultural transformation
Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) president Mr Ngoni Kudenga has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to the development of agriculture and the successful implementation of the country’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the 116th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show at Glamis Arena in Harare today, Mr Kudenga said ZAS had remained at the heart of the country’s premier agricultural showcase.
“For 116 years, ZAS has stood at the heart of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show,” he said.
“We remain committed to the development of agriculture in the country.”
Mr Kudenga said ZAS was proud to play a direct role in implementing NDS2, particularly through initiatives aimed at modernising farming and improving productivity.
He highlighted the organisation’s Master Farmer programme as one of the key initiatives promoting the adoption of technology and climate-smart agricultural practices among farmers.
“Through the Master Farmer programme, we are promoting the use of technology and climate-smart agriculture,” he said.
Mr Kudenga also expressed appreciation to Government for creating an enabling environment for the growth of agriculture, trade and the broader economy.
“We acknowledge the Government for creating an enabling environment for the growth of the agriculture sector, trade and the economy at large,” he said.
During his address, Mr Kudenga also paid tribute to former ZAS president Dr Robbie Mupawose, who recently passed away, honouring his contribution to the agricultural sector and the organisation.

Agriculture, technology key to development: President
President Mnangagwa has urged farmers to harness the transformative power of agriculture and technology to drive productivity and accelerate the country’s journey towards Vision 2030.
Speaking at the official opening this afternoon, President Mnangagwa said the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show provides an important platform for farmers, bankers and young innovators to interact and explore opportunities for the growth of the agricultural sector.
“They grounds also provide an important space where our young people can showcase their innovations, skills, talents, and capabilities, demonstrating that the future of our agricultural sector lies not only in our fields, but also in the ingenuity of our people.”
The President said the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) provides for the accelerated implementation of Vision 2030, with agriculture and technology expected to play a key role in driving national development.
“As we pursue this national vision, we must continue to harness the transformative power of agriculture and technology to drive productivity, create opportunities, empower our citizens, and build a prosperous and empowered Zimbabwe.
“It is pleasing to note that under NDS1, we laid a strong foundation for accelerated economic growth and development, resulting in the implementation of key national milestones.”
The President commended farmers for their contribution to the agricultural sector and urged them to focus on increasing production and expanding value chains.
“I therefore urge our farmers to continue expanding their value chains, increasing productivity and improving the quality and volume of their harvests so that we can adequately feed our nation while generating greater economic value.”
