Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, said citizens are showing notable interest in using the real estate transaction tax mobile application to benefit from new incentives and digital facilities.
He said the Ministry continues to develop tax services and simplify procedures for citizens to save time and effort and improve service quality.
Kouchouk said the new facilities include a full exemption for real estate transactions between spouses, children and descendants, as well as extending the payment period for real estate transaction tax from 30 to 60 days from the date of the real estate transaction.
He added that citizens can now easily register real estate transactions through the mobile application, noting that indicative prices are determined based on actual market values. Real estate transaction tax can also be paid electronically using bank cards or debit cards, he said.
The Minister explained that citizens can obtain a certified final clearance confirming payment of real estate transaction tax online through five steps. Egyptians living abroad can also benefit from all services available through the mobile application without having to visit tax offices, he added.
Rasha Abdel Aal, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), said taxpayers have responded positively to the electronic systems and mobile application and have begun creating accounts and filing their tax returns electronically.
Abdel Aal urged taxpayers who have carried out real estate transactions to register their sales, providing accurate details of the property and attaching the required contracts and documents to ensure the assessment process is completed quickly and accurately.
Ibrahim Sarhan, chairman and managing director of eFinance, said the tax system is undergoing qualitative development and a positive shift towards establishing a customer-service culture.
He noted that eTax represents a strong technological arm for the Egyptian Tax Authority in facilitating, incentivising and simplifying procedures for taxpayers.
Sarhan said the company is working to make optimal use of technological tools and artificial intelligence to provide citizens with faster and easier services.
Khaled Abdel Ghany, CEO of eTax, said the real estate transaction tax mobile application provides an integrated digital model offering easier and more efficient tax services to taxpayers.
He explained that the company is working with the Egyptian Tax Authority to improve taxpayers’ day-to-day experience by providing technical and technological support and direct communication.
He added that accounts can be created using either a national ID number or passport, with personal identity verified using artificial intelligence.
