Evidence:
Journal du Cameroun, a local Cameroonian media outlet reported that a suspect who is believed to have been supplying Boko Haram Armed group was intercepted and arrested on Sunday, 9th August, 2026 by Cameroonian gendarmerie forces, in the locality of Dougoum-Silo, in the Hilé-Alifa district, in the Far North Region of Cameroon, near the Nigeria-Cameroon border. The report shared a similar image as the one in the post by Juba Times, although the suspect’s face is blurred.
The National Gendarmerie of Cameroon confirmed the arrest and detention of the suspect on the morning of August 9, in a Facebook post here, indicating that they are under investigation.
The Gendarmerie Nationale du Cameroun, a specialized military-status defense and security force responsible for public safety, law enforcement, and territorial defense across Cameroon also revealed that the individual suspect was apprehended while in possession of three barrels of 20-liter capacity each of ammunition in its Facebook post.
According to the post, the suspect was in possession of 7,412 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, packed in three blue 20-liter jerrycans supposedly destined for terrorist groups active in the region.
In the post, the Gendarmerie shared blurred images of the suspect which did not include the suspect’s name and exact age.
*“A suspected link in a supply network for armed groups, the individual was taken to the General Staff of the Makary Gendarmerie Company, where he is currently undergoing an in-depth investigation to determine the origin of the ammunition, their exact destination, and any possible branches of the network to which he may be linked,” *the post reads in part.
Other local reports on the incident also appear here and here.
The Commander of the Logone and Chari Gendarmerie Legion, Colonel MVOGO Guy Hervé says they are intensifying the fight against all forms of terrorism and criminality in the area.
Notably, several Nigerian news outlets including Voice of Nigeria, African Perceptions, Zagazola identified the suspect as Moussa Goudja, in his 30s.
