KWAZULU-NATAL — A woman is fighting for her recovery and remains in critical condition after sustaining severe injuries during a vicious dog attack in the Greenwood Park area on Tuesday morning. The harrowing incident, which unfolded on Isom Road, prompted a rapid emergency medical response and highlighted the life-saving impact of swift bystander intervention.

The ordeal was brought to light when Duane, a driver for Nettow Towing Service, heard the victim’s screams while in the vicinity. Acting quickly, Duane left his vehicle to investigate and discovered the woman being mauled by the dog. He immediately attempted to intervene to stop the assault and called for emergency assistance, though the animal continued its attack, inflicting severe trauma on the victim.

Paramedics from KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene to find the patient’s health rapidly declining. Recognizing the gravity of her injuries, the medical team deployed Advanced Life Support (ALS) protocols. Their swift intervention successfully stabilized the woman in a critical condition before she was urgently transported to a nearby medical facility for comprehensive and ongoing treatment.
