He Reigns Chapel International, Umuorii, Uratta, Owerri, Imo State, on Sunday celebrated the maiden edition of its Father’s Day anniversary, honouring individuals and organisations for their contributions to societal development.
The event featured a message on responsible fatherhood, the importance of love in marriage and the need for men to demonstrate greater commitment to their families and society.
The resident pastor of the church, Pastor Chinedu Nnadi, who delivered the keynote message, spoke on the responsibilities of men in the home, stressing the need for husbands to love their wives and discharge their family obligations responsibly.
Pastor Nnadi, who admonished men to support their wives and show their children love, also urged women to be supportive partners to their husbands.
Narrating his personal experience, the cleric disclosed that he sponsored his wife’s education up to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level after their marriage, stressing that husbands should not hesitate to support their wives in achieving their academic and professional aspirations.
He noted that although men are traditionally regarded as heads of their families, women also have important roles to play in the economic and general well-being of their homes.
According to him, virtuous women contribute positively to the stability of their marriages and support their husbands in building peaceful and progressive families.
A major highlight of the celebration was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Stand For Humanity Foundation, a human rights organisation committed to promoting human dignity and addressing social challenges.
The president of the foundation, Chidiebube Okeoma, led a delegation of members of the organisation to receive the award on behalf of the group.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Okeoma said the recognition would motivate the foundation to intensify its efforts towards promoting human rights, protecting vulnerable persons and addressing social challenges.
He described the award as a call to greater service and urged members of the congregation to support the foundation’s campaign against child abuse.
Okeoma emphasised the need for collective action to protect children and ensure that they grow up in safe and supportive environments. He called on individuals, families and communities to take a firm stand against all forms of child abuse.
Other personalities honoured at the event included the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chike Olemigbe, who was represented by his Chief of Staff and other senior aides; on-air personality, Obinna Chineke; gender advocate, Marjorie Ezihe; the traditional ruler of Nguru Umuowa Autonomous Community in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Eme Njoku; broadcast journalist, Mary Omeni Nwode; and the Executive Secretary of the Imo State Basic Education Board, Chuks Metu.
The maiden anniversary celebration underscored the importance of responsible fatherhood, healthy marital relationships and the recognition of individuals and organisations contributing to societal development.
It also provided a platform to encourage men to embrace their family responsibilities while promoting values that strengthen marriages, nurture children and build stronger communities.
