All Progressive Congress (APC) Bigwig Hon. Salisu Sabo, popularly known as “Salisiyya Amana,” has said the people of Bauchi State are beginning to appreciate the achievements of the administration of former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, particularly in education, agriculture and other sectors, despite limited resources.
Sabo, an APC chieftain and a prominent supporter of the former governor, stated this while assessing Abubakar’s performance and political prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the former governor deserved recognition for what he described as sustained efforts to improve the living conditions of the people of the state.
According to him, the administration implemented notable interventions in education and agriculture, including the provision of fertiliser, improved farm inputs and insecticides to boost agricultural production.
Sabo argued that the administration recorded the achievements despite inheriting financial obligations and other challenges from previous administrations.
The former House of Representatives candidate said the administration’s records in education and agriculture were becoming increasingly visible to residents, adding that this had contributed to calls by some people for Abubakar to return to the political scene.
He said the administration’s performance should be assessed based on the resources available to Bauchi State rather than being compared with states or countries operating with significantly greater financial capacity.
Salisiyya also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for what he described as his peaceful disposition, saying the governor had consistently discouraged political violence in the state.
He, however, urged the governor to provide a level playing field for all political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
Salisiyya also appealed to security agencies to remain neutral and ensure that all political parties and candidates were allowed to campaign freely without intimidation.
“We need a peaceful and violence-free election. Security agencies should not be biased so that we can have a free, fair and peaceful election,” he said.
