Asante Kotoko coach Eric Tinkler says his side must deliver consistent performances throughout the upcoming season if they are to challenge for the Ghana Premier League title. The South African was appointed to lead the Porcupine Warriors after a trophyless 2025/26 campaign, with the task of guiding the club back to domestic success.Tinkler made a winning start to his tenure in competitive action over the weekend when Kotoko defeated Hearts of Oak in the Democracy Cup.Despite the victory over their fierce rivals, Tinkler believes there is still significant work to do before Kotoko can be considered genuine title contenders. The coach says his players must avoid producing strong performances in one match and then struggling in the next if they are to maintain a sustained challenge for the league. One of the main issues we have to deal with is consistency in our performances. We cant have what I call swing performances. Have one good game and then one bad game. If we want to chase for the title, we have to be consistent in our performances, Tinkler told journalists. The Porcupine Warriors will start their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign on the road when they travel to face Debibi United on Sunday, September 6.Tinkler will be hoping his side can build on their Democracy Cup victory and begin the league season with a positive result.
