KNYSNA - Former Knysna mayor Thando Matika and two senior municipal officials have been granted bail in a case involving allegations of corruption, extortion and money laundering.
Matika, acting municipal manager Boy Manqoba Ngubo and acting chief financial officer Busisiwe Lubelwana appeared in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where each was granted R20,000 bail.

The trio is accused of demanding kickbacks from a businessman who secured a R68-million security contract with the municipality.
The State has indicated that further charges against the accused have not been ruled out.
The case has been postponed to 2 December.
