Bayer Leverkusen Reportedly Eye Relebohile Mofokeng as a Massive January Transfer Deal Emerges

Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly monitoring Orlando Pirates talent Relebohile Mofokeng as the young South African continues to attract attention with his performances this season. The Bundesliga side, who won the German league title in the 2023/2024 campaign, are said to have identified the attacking player as a potential transfer target for the January window.

According to the information circulating about the reported interest, Leverkusen’s scouting team has assessed Mofokeng and placed him on their list of possible signings. A proposed offer worth R276 million has also been mentioned, although the reported bid and the club’s intentions have not been officially confirmed.

Mofokeng has continued to demonstrate his attacking ability, contributing goals and assists for Union this season. He has reportedly scored five goals and provided two assists in 12 appearances across competitions, making him one of the team’s leading contributors in front of goal.

His ability to create opportunities, find space and influence attacking moves has helped strengthen his reputation as one of South Africa’s promising young footballers. Performances of this nature can attract interest from European clubs seeking talented players who have the potential to develop further at a higher level.

For Orlando Pirates supporters, the reported situation presents an opportunity to celebrate Mofokeng’s progress while considering what a possible European move could mean for the club. The Soweto giants have invested in developing young players, and interest from a prominent Bundesliga side would reflect the value of nurturing talent through their football structures.

Pirates could also benefit financially if a transfer takes place, depending on the terms of any existing agreement. The circulating report suggests that the club could receive 15 per cent of the total transfer fee, which would amount to approximately R41 million from a deal worth R276 million. However, these figures remain subject to confirmation, and the exact financial arrangements have not been independently established.

Many Buccaneers supporters would welcome the opportunity for Mofokeng to advance his career in Europe, provided the move supports his continued development. Competing in the Bundesliga could expose him to a different level of tactical preparation, training and competition.

For now, attention remains on his performances and the possibility of further interest from abroad. While no completed transfer has been announced, Mofokeng’s reported links with Bayer Leverkusen have generated excitement among fans hoping to see him achieve greater success internationally.
