Afrigo Band Musician Moses Matovu Dies After Attack in Kampala

KAMPALA — Police have launched investigations into the suspected murder of Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu, who died after being attacked by unknown assailants in Kampala on Thursday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred on September 24, 2026, at Kibuli Market Zone B in Makindye Division, Kampala District.

Matovu was reportedly attacked by unknown individuals and sustained injuries. He was rushed to Kibuli Hospital for medical attention but later succumbed to his injuries.

“Police at Kabalagala have registered a case of suspected murder involving Matovu Moses, a musician with Afrigo Band,” police said in a statement issued Thursday.

A police task team has since visited the scene and commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Police said efforts are also underway to identify and apprehend the suspected assailants.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear as investigations continue.

Police said further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
