According to a report by Football London on Monday October 12, 2026, Cole Palmer has enjoyed several memorable high-scoring matches since joining Chelsea, and the attacking midfielder has continued producing exciting performances for the club this season.
The England international featured in Chelsea’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday and previously scored twice during their thrilling 6-3 Carabao Cup triumph against Leeds United.
However, Palmer has revealed that one particular Chelsea match left him too excited to sleep, recalling the unforgettable 4-3 comeback victory against Manchester United during the 2023-24 campaign.
Chelsea looked destined for disappointment before Palmer produced a remarkable late performance, scoring a hat-trick to help the Blues complete an incredible turnaround at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website after his new contract was confirmed, Palmer reflected on the dramatic encounter and explained how much the occasion meant to him.
“This one was mad. I don’t think I slept that night. It was madness. The Bridge was crazy. I think that fourth goal is my favourite ever,” Palmer said.
His comments underline the emotional significance of the contest, particularly the dramatic winning goal that sent Chelsea supporters into celebrations and established another unforgettable moment in the midfielder’s career.
Palmer has scored several important goals since arriving from Manchester City, quickly becoming one of Chelsea’s most influential attacking players and a major source of inspiration during difficult periods.
Although he previously carried much of Chelsea’s goalscoring responsibility, other players have started contributing more regularly this season, providing manager Xabi Alonso with additional attacking options.
Joao Pedro currently leads Chelsea’s Premier League scoring charts with five goals from five appearances after his brace against Bournemouth. Morgan Rogers has also moved ahead of Palmer after scoring his fourth league goal.
Palmer has scored twice in the league so far, but his quality suggests he could increase that tally as the campaign progresses and Chelsea continue creating opportunities.
Jordan Henderson has also made an encouraging contribution, scoring twice and providing an assist against Bournemouth. His performance silenced some critics who questioned whether the experienced midfielder could still influence matches.
Palmer cost Chelsea approximately £40 million when he arrived from Manchester City, a fee that increasingly appears excellent value given his performances and status among the Premier League’s leading attacking talents.
