Chisi Mbewe Gifted Brand New Car After Dumping Chiefs Out of Africa

BOMBSHELL! Red Arrows Reward Coach Chisi Mbewe With Staff Vehicle After Stunning Kaizer Chiefs Exit

SOUTH AFRICAN FOOTBALL NEWS | 26 OCTOBER 2026

Zambian football club Red Arrows FC have reportedly rewarded head coach Chisi Mbewe with a staff vehicle following the team’s impressive elimination of Kaizer Chiefs from the CAF Confederation Cup, highlighting the contrasting resources and circumstances surrounding the two clubs.

The gesture comes after Red Arrows overcame the South African giants in the second preliminary round of the continental competition, delivering a significant result for the Zambian outfit while leaving Amakhosi supporters disappointed.

According to a report by FARPost, Mbewe received a vehicle as a reward following the team’s achievement. The development has attracted attention because of the apparent difference in resources between Red Arrows and a historically successful South African club such as Kaizer Chiefs.

Red Arrows entered their tie against Chiefs with the responsibility of competing against one of South Africa’s most recognisable football institutions. However, the Zambian side demonstrated determination and tactical discipline across the two-legged encounter.

The first leg in Ndola saw Red Arrows secure a 1-0 victory, with Alassane Diarra scoring the decisive goal in the 77th minute. That result gave the Zambian club an important advantage ahead of the return fixture in South Africa.

Chiefs subsequently hosted the second leg at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday, 23 October, hoping to overturn the deficit and progress to the next stage.

Despite their efforts, Amakhosi ultimately failed to secure qualification, with the contest decided by a penalty shootout after the teams remained level on aggregate.

For Red Arrows, the result represented a significant achievement and a reward for their collective performance under Mbewe’s leadership.

Contrasting circumstances for Chiefs and Red Arrows

The reported vehicle reward has also drawn attention to the financial and operational differences between football clubs competing in different African leagues.

Kaizer Chiefs are among South Africa’s biggest football brands, with an extensive supporter base and considerable commercial visibility. Expectations at Naturena remain high, particularly when the club competes in continental competitions.

Red Arrows, meanwhile, have demonstrated that organisation, determination and effective preparation can help a team overcome a more widely recognised opponent.

The reported gesture towards Mbewe underlines the importance Red Arrows place on the achievement, although the vehicle’s value and the club’s precise motivation have not been independently established.

Chiefs must now turn their attention towards domestic competition after their continental disappointment. The early exit raises further questions about the team’s consistency and its ability to meet expectations this season.

For Mbewe and Red Arrows, however, eliminating Chiefs provides a major boost in confidence and a moment to celebrate.

The contrasting reactions capture the unpredictable nature of African football, where reputation and resources do not always determine the outcome on the pitch.
