Just days before Terricia Govender was reported missing following flash floods in Nepal, the 33-year-old Durban woman shared a joyful video from her Mount Kailash pilgrimage, describing the chance to see spiritual leader Sadhguru as a blessing.
In the 30-second video posted on August 20, Govender can be seen outdoors holding a plate of food as she enthusiastically recounts her day while travelling towards Lake Manasarovar, a sacred pilgrimage destination in the Tibet Autonomous Region.
“I started off the day seeing Sadhguru,” she said.
Govender, from Isipingo Beach, described the encounter as a blessing and said she had been able to see Sadhguru “up close and personal”, the POST reported.
Her excitement is evident as she speaks about the experience before explaining that the group was continuing towards Lake Manasarovar and had stopped for a meal.
“I am so grateful and thankful for this opportunity,” she said.
The video was shared just days before her family was plunged into uncertainty after Govender was reported missing following flash floods in Nepal.
Govender had travelled as part of a group with the Isha Foundation and was on the return journey from Mount Kailash when the floods struck at an immigration office on the border.
For her mother, Linda Govender, the birthday encounter with Sadhguru was particularly significant.
“She just celebrated her birthday with Sadhguru. She felt as if she had met him for the first time on her birthday,” Govender said.
Terricia had turned 33 during the pilgrimage, which she had begun on August 12 after looking forward to the journey for months.
Although she was travelling alone, she was part of the larger organised group.
Now, the images and video capturing her excitement have taken on a painful significance for her family as they wait for news about her whereabouts.
Her family in Durban is anxiously seeking information and praying that she is safe.
Linda Govender has been appealing for assistance in locating her daughter and is awaiting confirmation of Terricia's whereabouts and safety.
