Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) has commenced relief and recovery interventions for households affected by the recent communal crisis in Sardauna local government area.
The agency has already completed the profiling of households affected by the violence, particularly in Gerouje and Mbara communities of Mbamga Ward, aimed at establishing the number of affected residents and the extent of their losses.
The assessment team, led by Mr Genesis Munjah, worked in collaboration with members of the Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs) in the affected communities to gather data on the victims and households.
Munjah said the exercise was to provide an accurate database that would guide the agency’s humanitarian response and ensure that interventions are directed to those affected by the crisis.
He explained that the profiling would help determine the scale of the humanitarian consequences of the violence and support subsequent relief and recovery efforts in the communities.
According to him, the exercise formed part of TSEMA’s statutory mandate of assessing emergencies and coordinating appropriate humanitarian support for residents affected by disasters and communal conflicts.
Munjah further said the intervention emphasised the commitment of the state government under Governor Agbu Kefas to protect the lives and welfare of residents affected by emergencies and communal crises.
