Primetime Reporters To Honour AREFFN Acting National President Obiekezie With Icon Of Leadership Award

The management of Primetime Reporters is set to honour the Acting National President of the Association of Registered Freight Forwarders Nigeria, AREFFN, Chief Obiekezie Francis Uchenna, with its Icon of Leadership Award at the organisation’s 2026 Annual Lecture and Awards on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Obiekezie was nominated for the award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing the interests of freight forwarders and contributing to the development of Nigeria’s maritime and logistics sector.

According to the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Primetime Reporters, Mr. Saint Augustine Nwadinamuo, in a statement issued in Lagos on Friday, the award followed the organisation’s observation of Obiekezie’s contributions to the freight forwarding profession and the broader maritime industry.

Nwadinamuo said: “We have closely followed his consistent advocacy for reforms aimed at improving the nation’s maritime and logistics sector, particularly his support for the accelerated implementation of the National Single Window, the Port Community System, and other strategic port modernisation initiatives designed to enhance trade facilitation and operational efficiency.

“His emergence as Acting National President of AREFFN has further demonstrated his dedication to the growth and development of the freight forwarding profession.

“As an experienced freight forwarding practitioner who has served the association in various leadership capacities, he has continued to promote professionalism, stakeholder engagement, and policies that strengthen Nigeria’s ports and international trade competitiveness.”

Nwadinamuo disclosed that Obiekezie would be presented with the award at the 2026 Annual Lecture and Awards, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on October 15, 2026, at Rockview Hotels, GRA, Apapa, Lagos.

He noted that the event, which is the fifth edition since its inception, would be chaired by a former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Barr. Temisan Omatseye.

According to him, the event, themed “Smarter Gateways, Greener Logistics: Leveraging Port Community System and National Single Window For Zero-Emission Trade,” will feature as keynote speaker the Managing Director/CEO of Kamany Marine Services Limited and former lecturer at the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, Dr. Charles Okorefe.

Other speakers, he said, include the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho; Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola; Director General of the Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency, NPERA, Barr. Pius Akutah; Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Blue Economy, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel; and National Coordinator of the National Single Window Secretariat, Mr. Tola Fakolade, among others.

Nwadinamuo therefore called on government agencies, professional associations, corporate organisations, maritime stakeholders and individuals to partner with Primetime Reporters towards the successful hosting of the 2026 Annual Lecture and Awards.
