GTA 6 File Size Leak: How Much Space Do You Need on Your PS5?

With GTA 6 arriving in November, you might want to check your PS5 storage before launch day.

A new leak suggests Rockstar’s upcoming open-world game could require a hefty 210GB download, which could mean deleting a few games if your SSD is already running low on space.

There’s one important caveat, though: Rockstar hasn’t confirmed the reported file size, so treat it as an estimate rather than a final figure.

What does the GTA 6 file size leak reveal?

It's also unclear whether the figure includes a potential day-one update or how much space the game will occupy after installation. We don't have a confirmed file size for the Xbox Series X|S version either.

For now, 210GB is a useful estimate for planning, but the final requirement could be different.

How much storage space should you free up for GTA 6?

The original PS5 comes with an 825GB SSD, but around 667GB is available for games and other content. If the leak is accurate, GTA 6's reported download would take up roughly 31% of that usable capacity.

That’s a significant chunk of space, especially if you regularly switch between large games. You don't necessarily need to clear out your entire library, though. Head to your console's storage settings, check which games and applications take up the most room, and remove anything you no longer play.

If storage is a recurring problem, you could also consider adding a compatible M.2 SSD to expand your PS5's capacity.

Your internet connection is worth thinking about, too. Downloading 210GB could take several hours or longer, depending on your broadband speed, network congestion, and any data limits imposed by your provider. Planning will help you avoid a lengthy wait when you're ready to play.
