Nations FC and Mysterious Dwarfs begin UMB Division One season with away victories

Nations FC and Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs made winning starts to the 2026/27 UMB Division One League campaign with away victories, while newly promoted Fettehman United FC earned a point against former Premier League side Elmina Sharks.

Nations FC secured a 1-0 win over newly promoted Ebiemo Nzema FC at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena on Saturday.

The decisive moment came in the 34th minute, when Daniel Lomotey put the visitors ahead. Ebiemo Nzema pressed for an equaliser, but Nations FC defended their lead to claim maximum points on the road.

Nations FCs Effah Joseph was named NASCO Player of the Match for his performance.

At the St. Martins School Park on Sunday, Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs defeated Skyy FC 2-1 in a contest between two sides with contrasting ambitions.

Mysterious Dwarfs, who finished second last season, made an excellent start when Emmanuel Osei opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Godfred Eshun then extended the visitors advantage with a header in the 31st minute.

Skyy FC went into half-time two goals behind but improved after the restart. Their response produced a goal in the 78th minute, with Emmanuel Mensah reducing the deficit.

The home side continued to search for an equaliser, although Mysterious Dwarfs held firm during the closing stages to take all three points. Emmanuel Osei was named NASCO Player of the Match after contributing to the visitors victory.

Elsewhere, Elmina Sharks were held to a 0-0 draw by Fettehman United FC at the Nduom Sports Complex on Sunday.

The match was Fettehman Uniteds first in the Division One League after securing promotion, and the newly promoted side left with a valuable point away from home.

Elmina Sharks controlled much of the game and created a number of chances, but could not convert their opportunities into goals.

Sharks left-back Isaac Quagraine was recognised as the NASCO Player of the Match following an impressive individual display, despite his side being unable to break the deadlock.

The opening results leave Nations FC and Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs with three points from their first fixtures, while Fettehman United FC have one point from their debut in the competition.
