The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has stepped up efforts to tap into the growing pool of Zimbabwean football talent abroad.
ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi and general secretary Yvonne Mapika Manwa recently engaged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as the association seeks to strengthen its national team structures and advance its Dream 2030 vision.
The meeting with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira and Permanent Secretary Ambassador Albert Ranganai Chimbindi centred on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
A key area of focus is using Zimbabwe’s diplomatic network to help identify and connect with talented Zimbabwean players based outside the country.
With a number of Zimbabwean youngsters developing their careers in foreign academies and professional leagues, ZIFA is looking to establish stronger links that could make it easier to track and assess potential national team prospects.
The cooperation is also expected to enhance logistical and administrative support for Zimbabwe’s national teams when they are on international duty.
ZIFA’s latest move forms part of its broader Dream 2030 strategy, which is aimed at creating a coordinated player development pathway from the junior levels through to the senior national teams.
