Madagascar’s FC Rouge have arrived in Zambia ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup first round preliminary first leg against Red Arrows FC set for this Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
A 42-member delegation, comprising a 23-man playing squad plus technical staff and club officials, touched down at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport on Wednesday at 15:45 hours aboard an ET flight via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The visitors were received by officials from the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and Red Arrows FC.
Speaking upon arrival, FC Rouge head coach Fenososa Maldini said the team was ready for the continental battle and impressed with the reception in Ndola.
“We are happy with the way we have been received. From what we have seen so far, we believe our stay here will be good,”_ Maldini said.
The Malagasy tactician admitted preparations were tough but said his side did its homework.
“We did prepare very well although it is always difficult we will try to persevere,” he said.
“We only tried to find out more about Red Arrows through social media. We did our homework and we are here with an ambition to get a positive result. Our objective is to win the first round,” Maldini added.
The FC Rouge delegation has checked into Kwetu Lodge in the Dola Hill area of Ndola where they will base and finalize preparations ahead of the match.
The encounter on Saturday, 5 September 2026 at 15:00 hours at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium carries significant continental stakes, with both sides seeking a first-leg advantage ahead of the return fixture in Madagascar.
Red Arrows will be banking on home support as they kick off their African campaign, with anticipation building for what promises to be a fiercely contested CAF Confederation Cup tie.
