Warriors back home, shift focus to fixture against DRC

ZIMBABWE’S senior men’s national team have arrived in the country following their impressive 3-2 comeback victory over Sierra Leone in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers Group E match played in Morocco.

The Warriors touched down in Zimbabwe on Friday and will now turn their attention to their next assignment against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Monday at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

Zimbabwe produced a fightback against Sierra Leone after going into the half time trailing 2-0.

Marshall Munetsi emerged as the hero, scoring a brace as the Warriors completed the comeback to secure all three points.

The victory gave new Warriors coach Ramon Catala a winning start to his tenure and put Zimbabwe on three points in Group E.

“We are all happy with such a result, but that game is done already and its now water under the bridge.

“We all have to fight for another win on Monday against DRC,” said team captain Marvelous Nakamba.

The Warriors are expected to resume preparations on Saturday as they try to secure another positive result against DRC on home soil.

Monday’s encounter at the National Sports Stadium will mark the return of international games for the Warriors at the giant facility after several years of hosting games in foreign land as the stadium was not homologated.
