“Brothers Will Always Put Kenya First” – Fred Matiang’i

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i has attracted attention after sharing a message about national unity alongside photographs capturing a meeting with fellow political figures.

In a Facebook post, Matiang’i stated, “Brothers will always put Kenya first.” He accompanied the statement with several photographs showing him interacting with other leaders in a relaxed setting.

The images have sparked conversations among Kenyans, particularly at a time when political discussions surrounding the 2027 General Election continue to gain momentum. Although Matiang’i did not provide further details about the purpose of the meeting, his message has drawn attention to the possibility of cooperation among leaders who may share common political interests.

The reactions in the comment section reflected different opinions about the message and what it could mean for the country’s political future.

Some Kenyans welcomed the apparent spirit of unity, arguing that political leaders should put personal ambitions aside and work together in the interest of the country. Others expressed support for Matiang’i, with some openly suggesting that he should consider seeking the presidency in the next general election.

There were also comments referencing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, with some social media users interpreting the photographs as a possible sign of growing political connections.

One commenter argued that unity would be important if the opposition hopes to mount a serious challenge against President William Ruto in 2027. Others, however, expressed reservations about certain political combinations, demonstrating that Kenyans remain divided over possible alliances.

Notably, Matiang’i’s short statement did not announce any political agreement, coalition arrangement or presidential endorsement. Nevertheless, its timing has made it a subject of discussion among Kenyans following the country’s evolving political landscape.

As political realignments continue ahead of 2027, cooperation among influential leaders could become an important subject of national debate.
