Stonebwoy Donates GH¢100,000 To Black Challenge As Ghana Chases Historic World Cup Glory

According to a report by TV3Gh, on Saturday October 24, 2026, Ghanaian dancehall and reggae sensation Stonebwoy has demonstrated his commitment to sports development by donating GH¢100,000 to the Black Challenge, Ghana’s national amputee football team, as the players intensify preparations for the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup in Mexico.

The financial contribution comes at a crucial moment for the team, which is preparing to compete against some of the world’s strongest amputee football nations in pursuit of its first global championship.

According to a report by 3News, the award-winning musician, widely recognised as the leader of Bhim Nation, visited the team during a training session at Mensah Sarbah Park on Friday, October 23, 2026, where he presented the donation to support their preparations for the international competition.

The gesture is expected to provide additional assistance to the players as they work towards representing Ghana on the world stage.

The 2026 WAFF World Cup is scheduled to take place from November 13 to 22 in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico. Ghana will compete in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq, with the team hoping to progress beyond the group stage and challenge for the ultimate prize.

Stonebwoy’s intervention has added to the support surrounding the national side ahead of the tournament, which presents another opportunity for Ghana to translate its impressive continental record into global success.

The Black Challenge have established themselves as one of Africa’s leading teams in amputee football, recording notable achievements in major competitions over the past few years.

Ghana won the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in 2021 before securing gold at the inaugural African Para Games held in Accra in 2023.

The team further demonstrated its continental dominance in 2024 when it successfully defended its African Amputee Football Cup of Nations title in Cairo, Egypt, defeating Morocco 2-1 in the final.

These accomplishments have strengthened the team’s reputation and raised expectations among supporters who believe Ghana has the potential to compete for the sport’s biggest international honour.

Despite their success in Africa, however, the Black Challenge are yet to win the World Amputee Football Cup.

The upcoming tournament in Mexico therefore presents a significant opportunity for the players to make history and establish Ghana among the leading nations in the sport globally.

Beyond their achievements on the pitch, the team also has a place in the development of professional amputee football. In 2011, members of the Black Challenge became the first amputee footballers in the world to sign contracts to play in Turkey’s Amputee League, marking a significant milestone for the sport.

Stonebwoy’s donation comes as the team enters the final phase of preparations, with the tournament less than a month away.

His support provides an additional boost as the players concentrate on their training, tactical preparations and efforts to deliver a strong performance in Mexico.

Although details about the specific areas in which the GH¢100,000 will be spent have not been disclosed, the contribution is intended to assist the team ahead of its international assignment.

With Ghana scheduled to face Angola, Colombia and Iraq in the group stage, the Black Challenge will need to draw on their experience and previous successes to navigate a competitive path towards the knockout rounds.

The team will be hoping that its impressive record in African competitions, combined with the support it continues to receive, will help it overcome the challenge of competing against the world’s best amputee football teams.

Stonebwoy’s gesture also highlights the potential role of entertainers and other influential personalities in supporting sports development and encouraging athletes with disabilities to pursue excellence.

As the countdown to the November 13 tournament continues, attention will increasingly turn to the Black Challenge and their quest to bring the World Amputee Football Cup to Ghana for the first time.

For the players, the mission is clear: build on their continental dominance, make the nation proud and turn years of achievement into a historic world title.
