Babes Wodumo Reportedly Spotted With a Man Said to Have Known Late Mampintsha

A video allegedly showing South African Gqom star Babes Wodumo spending time with a man rumoured to be her new romantic partner has sparked debate on social media. The controversy stems from claims that the man reportedly knew her late husband, Mampintsha.

Mampintsha, whose real name was Mandla Maphumulo, passed away in December 2022, leaving Babes Wodumo widowed. The circulating footage has since attracted attention, with social media users expressing different opinions about the alleged relationship and the man’s reported connection to the late musician.

Some people have criticised the possibility of the two being romantically involved, arguing that it would be inappropriate for someone who knew Mampintsha to pursue a relationship with his widow. Their reactions have fuelled discussions about loyalty, respect for the deceased and the expectations society places on people who lose their spouses.

However, the claims surrounding the alleged relationship remain unverified. There is no independent confirmation that the man featured in the video is Babes Wodumo’s romantic partner or that he had a personal relationship with Mampintsha.

The location where the footage was recorded and the date of the encounter have also not been established. Without these details, it is difficult to determine the full context of the video or whether the criticism directed at the pair is justified.

Meanwhile, other social media users have defended Babes Wodumo, arguing that she has the right to rebuild her life following the loss of her husband. They maintain that being widowed does not mean a person must remain single indefinitely or seek public approval before entering another relationship.

Some have also argued that even if the man knew Mampintsha, that connection alone would not necessarily make a possible relationship inappropriate. Others believe the controversy reflects broader social expectations surrounding widowhood and how people are expected to behave after losing a spouse.

The discussion has therefore highlighted differing opinions about grief, moving forward after bereavement and the extent to which the public should involve itself in the private lives of celebrities.

For now, it remains unclear whether Babes Wodumo has addressed the circulating footage or confirmed the rumours about her relationship status. The man’s identity and alleged connection to Mampintsha have also not been independently established.

Until those involved provide further clarification, the claims should be treated as speculation rather than confirmed facts. The video has generated considerable discussion, but it does not, on its own, establish that a romantic relationship exists between the two.
