Zimbabwe’s Young Warriors have been drawn against Mauritius in the first round of the 2027 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Under-23 qualifiers.
The first leg is scheduled to be played in Zimbabwe on September 28, with the return fixture set for Mauritius on October 6.
The Young Warriors will be hoping to make home advantage count at the newly homologated National Sports Stadium, after years of Zimbabwe being forced to host international matches on foreign soil.
Zimbabwe head into the fixture under newly appointed Spanish head coach Marc Sanchez, who also serves as the Warriors assistant coach.
Sanchez will be assisted by former ZIFA technical director Wilson Mutekede as they target qualification for the 2027 Under-23 AFCON finals, which will be staged in Egypt.
Should the Young Warriors overcome Mauritius, they will face Mali, who have received a bye into the next round of the qualifiers.
Zimbabwe are returning to the U-23 AFCON qualification pathway after missing the 2023 qualifiers, a setback that also saw them miss out on the race for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Young Warriors will now be looking to make a strong start under Sanchez as they attempt to secure a place at the continental finals in Egypt.
