Premier League: Hearts of Oak and Samartex target perfect starts on Matchday Three

Hearts of Oak v Bechem United FC

Hearts of Oak can make it three victories from three matches when they welcome Bechem United to the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The Phobians have made their strongest start to a league season in six years, following a 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea with a 2-1 comeback win against Bibiani Goldstars. They are unbeaten in their past five home league games, winning three and keeping four clean sheets.

Bechem United began with a 1-0 win over Goldstars but lost 3-1 to Karela United last weekend. The Hunters have not won in their last three away league matches and have recorded only one victory in their past six league visits to Hearts of Oak.

FC Samartex 1996 v Asante Kotoko

FC Samartex 1996 will defend their perfect start against Asante Kotoko at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

The Timber Giants have won both opening fixtures, including a 1-0 away success at Aduana FC, and are on a four-match winning run at home. Asante Kotoko also began positively, beating Heart of Lions 2-1 at home last weekend to extend their unbeaten run across all competitions to three matches.

However, the Porcupine Warriors have won only one of their last ten away league games.

Newly promoted Port City FC continue their pursuit of a first Premier League win when they face Berekum Chelsea at Nana Boamah Darko II Park.

Port City drew 1-1 with FC Ashantigold 04 in their opening match, while their Matchday Two game against Medeama was postponed. They will hope to carry their strong Division One League home form into the top flight.

Berekum Chelsea responded to their 4-0 defeat by Hearts of Oak on the opening day with a 3-1 victory over Dreams FC. That result gave them six wins in their last seven Premier League matches.

Aduana FC v Karela United

Aduana FC are seeking their first win of the campaign when Karela United visit Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

The Fire Club have collected one point from two matches and have won just once in their last seven league outings. Their latest home defeat by Samartex also ended an eight-match unbeaten run at the venue.

Karela United recovered from a 3-1 loss to Samartex by beating Bechem United 3-1. The Tamale-based side are nevertheless without an away league win in six matches and face an Aduana team with the stronger historical home record in this fixture.

Debibi United v Young Apostles

The Still Believe lads have won their last five home league matches and have also won their past five home meetings with Goldstars. Bibiani Goldstars have lost their opening two games and their last six away league fixtures.

Basake Holy Stars v FC Ashantigold 04

Basake Holy Stars will look to return to winning form against unbeaten FC Ashantigold 04 at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena.

The Anyinase side won their opening match but lost narrowly to Young Apostles last weekend. Their home record remains encouraging, with eight wins in their last ten league games there.

FC Ashantigold 04 drew their first match before beating Vision FC 3-1 to remain unbeaten after two games in their maiden Premier League campaign. The fixture will be their first Premier League visit to Anyinase.
