CFM International's LEAP engines have suffered from durability problems, which have been caused by the additional strain of hot and dusty conditions. Such severe environments include the Middle East and India. The manufacturer has responded to this challenge with a new high-pressure turbine (HPT) durability kit for the CFM LEAP-1B. The technology has just received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
