**One person has been killed while six others were injured during a clash between youths of Buskuwa and Mabani villages in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. **
Daily Trust gathered that the clash began after attacks and reprisal attacks by youths in the two communities
Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, saying the crisis began on Monday, August 25, 2026, after three residents of Mabani village – Babangida Musa, 20; Usman Abdu, 20; and Ya’u Muhammad, 18 – were allegedly attacked on their way to Buskuwa by unidentified youths suspected to be from Buskuwa.
According to a statement, the three victims were beaten with sticks.
“In a reprisal attack two hours later, at about 10:00pm, one Jumba Adamu was alleged to have mobilized youths from Mabani and stormed Buskuwa village, where residents were assaulted with sticks.”
“Unfortunately, one of the victims, Muhammadu Dare, died on the spot, while others sustained various degrees of injuries,” he said.
Habib said that the incident was reported to the Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at about 8:00am by a 55-year-old resident of Buskuwa.
Habib added that Police operatives, in collaboration with hunters and vigilante groups, were immediately deployed to the area.
The injured and the corpse were evacuated to the General Hospital, Gamawa, where a doctor confirmed Muhammadu Dare dead.
“Three of the injured victims are currently receiving treatment, while three others have been treated and discharged,” he said
Habib stated one suspect has been arrested in connection with the clash, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other persons involved, adding that preliminary investigations have commenced and the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further action.
