Ghana Football Association President and CAF Second Vice President Kurt Okraku represented CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe at the Gambia Football Federations Elective General Assembly held on August 29, 2026, in Banjul.Okraku delivered a message of unity and collective responsibility on behalf of Motsepe as Gambian football ushered in a new administration following the election of Kemo Ceesay as GFF president.Ceesay secured 41 of the 77 votes cast to win the election, finishing ahead of Colonel Musa Jammeh, who received 24 votes, and Sadibou Kamaso, who polled 12 votes.He succeeds Lamin Kaba Bajo, whose 12-year tenure came to an end following the introduction of presidential term limits. Ceesay will serve a four-year term with a mandate focused on institutional reform, transparency and grassroots infrastructure.In his address at the congress, Okraku stressed the importance of unity and collective commitment to the development of football in The Gambia.Unity, togetherness and a shared commitment to the development of football must remain at the heart of the games progress in The Gambia, Okraku said.He congratulated Ceesay on his election and wished him and his new administration wisdom, courage and success as they begin their four-year journey.The CAF Second Vice President also paid tribute to outgoing president Lamin Kaba Bajo for his contribution to Gambian football and his service to the sport across West Africa and at CAF.On behalf of President Dr Patrice Motsepe, I expressed our sincere appreciation to him for his selfless and dedicated service to football in The Gambia, across West Africa, and at CAF, Okraku added.Ceesay will be supported by Muhammed Jagana, Bakary Bojang and Demba Conateh, who were elected as first, second and third vice-presidents respectively, unopposed after opposing candidates withdrew.The new administration now begins a four-year mandate as it seeks to strengthen the structures and development of Gambian football.
