Mighty Wanderers have released ticket prices for their eagerly anticipated Caf Champions League first-leg tie against Tanzanian giants Simba Sporting Club, with fans able to secure a standard ticket for K10,000.
The corporate boxes have been priced at K300,000 for the clash at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe
Those after a more premium experience will need to part with K30,000 for a VIP ticket, while corporate boxes have been priced at K300,000 for the clash at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
The fixture, scheduled for Sunday, 6 September, marks Wanderers’ return to Africa’s premier club competition after a nine-year absence, having last featured in 2018 when they lost 6-1 to DR Congo’s AS Vita. A return leg in Tanzania will follow on 13 September.
Wanderers director of football David Kanyenda said the club had assembled a squad capable of competing with the best on the continent, naming national team players Emmanuel Nyirenda, Blessings Singini and Stanley Sanudi among those expected to feature.
“We have a very good squad and no team has a better squad than us in Malawi… Our aim is to progress to the group stages. Simba are not the champions in Tanzania; we are the champions here. We are not afraid of them,” Kanyenda said.
He added that last season’s Caf Confederation Cup exit at the hands of Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy, on penalties at the preliminary stage, had given the squad valuable experience heading into this campaign.
“We are thankful to our president, Dr Thomson Mpinganjira, for allowing us to return to the Champions League and playing in Caf competitions in two successive years,” he said.
