Prudential Bank Secures GHS 1.13 Billion Investment from Bloom Africa Holdings

Prudential Bank Limited has received a major financial boost following regulatory approval from the Bank of Ghana for a GHS 1.13 billion investment by Bloom Africa Holdings Ghana Limited.
The fresh capital injection pushes Prudential Bank’s capital levels comfortably above the central bank’s minimum requirement. More importantly, it gives one of Ghana’s oldest indigenous banks the financial muscle to step up lending and grow its operations.
According to the bank, the funds will focus on three main areas:
-
Better Customer Experience:
Upgrading technology and improving overall service across branches and digital channels.
-
Business Financing:
Expanding lending capacity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as larger corporate clients.
-
Digital Transformation:
Speeding up the launch of new digital tools and online banking services.
Commenting on the deal, Acting Managing Director of Prudential Bank, Ebow Quayson, said the investment gives the bank the runway it needs to execute its long-term goals.
“This investment significantly strengthens Prudential Bank and enhances our capacity to deliver on the priorities we have set for the Bank,” Quayson said.
“It gives us greater capacity to invest in technology and service delivery, support the growth of our customers and their businesses, accelerate our digital transformation and position the Bank for its next phase of sustainable growth,” he added.
Broader Expansion Plans
Board Chairman of Bloom Africa Holdings, Gabriel Edgal, explained that the investment is part of a broader vision to build a connected regional banking network.
“Prudential Bank has a strong legacy in Ghana, built on a deep understanding of its customers, businesses and the market it serves,” Edgal noted. “We want to build on that foundation as part of a truly Pan-African financial institution that understands local markets and the businesses that drive them, while connecting those businesses to capital and opportunities across the continent.”
Bloom Africa Holdings Ghana Limited is the Ghanaian subsidiary of Mauritius-based Bloom Africa Holdings Limited, an investment firm actively building a footprint across West Africa. The parent company already holds banking assets in The Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
With regulatory hurdles now cleared, Prudential Bank management expressed gratitude to the Bank of Ghana, shareholders, and customers for their support throughout the approval process.
