Young Nigerian artiste IceKing Ochacho has released his much-anticipated album, The Future, as he continues his push to establish himself as one of the emerging voices in the country’s music scene.
The album, which dropped on Wednesday, features 15 tracks, according to the official tracklist, with appearances from veteran singers 2Baba, Magnito and Jumabee.
The project opens with “Intro” and includes songs such as “FYP,” “Away,” “Oyi’Oche,” “Money Na Cheche,” “Dreams,” “No Competition,” “Call You Back” featuring Magnito, “Young Forever” featuring 2Baba, “Awilo,” “Vibe Check,” “Magic,” “Halla My Name,” “Blessings” featuring Jumabee and “Grateful.”
The release comes after a series of singles that helped build anticipation for the album, including “No Competition,” “Dreams” and “Magic.”
The teenager, who is the son of self-made Nigerian billionaire businessman, real estate tycoon, and philanthropist, King Ochacho, has been building momentum ahead of the album, with “No Competition” recording more than 1 million streams on Spotify earlier this month.
IceKing celebrated the milestone on October 2, sharing the achievement with his father, businessman King Ochacho.
The achievement came after “No Competition” had also gained traction across other digital platforms.
A September report noted that the song reached No. 49 on Spotify Nigeria, No. 35 on YouTube Nigeria and No. 31 on Nigeria’s Shazam chart, while its Audiomack plays had surpassed 179,000 at the time.
The album’s release also marks another chapter in IceKing’s journey, which began publicly at a young age.
He attracted attention after performing at the maiden edition of the Ochacho Carnival in Otukpo, Benue State, in 2020, when he was seven.
His performance at the event, which also featured established artistes including Davido, Zlatan and Peruzzi, drew attention, with Davido reportedly describing the youngster as “The Future.”
With the album now available, attention will shift to how the project performs across streaming platforms and whether IceKing can translate the extensive pre-release publicity into sustained interest in his music.
