Deadly Russian Attacks Sweep Ukraine as Zelenskyy Warns Global Stability Is Being Shattered by War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of escalating its military campaign after overnight attacks reportedly struck 10 regions across Ukraine, killing a woman and leaving several other civilians injured.

Zaporizhzhia was among the areas suffering significant damage, with residential apartment blocks, a university facility, shopping centre and boiler house affected during strikes that began in the evening.

In a separate attack in the Kharkiv region, a woman was killed when a drone struck Lozova, according to Zelenskyy.

Nine-Story Residential Buildings Damaged in Zaporizhzhia

Zelenskyy described the bombardment of Zaporizhzhia as a “very brutal and targeted” Russian attack that began during the evening.

Nine-story residential buildings were among the structures damaged.

A university building, shopping centre and boiler house were also affected as emergency crews responded to multiple locations across the city.

Independent reporting citing Ukrainian authorities confirmed that apartment buildings, a university and shopping mall were hit in the bombardment.

Five People Reported Injured as Residents Evacuated

At least five people were known to have been injured when Zelenskyy issued his statement.

Some residents were also evacuated following damage to residential buildings.

Emergency personnel worked at the affected locations while authorities assessed the extent of destruction caused by the overnight attack.

There were no immediate reports of deaths from the Zaporizhzhia strikes in Zelenskyy’s statement.

Woman Killed in Drone Strike on Lozova

The night’s attacks also turned deadly in the Kharkiv region.

Zelenskyy said a Russian drone struck Lozova, killing a woman.

Three other people were injured in the attack, according to the Ukrainian president.

Zelenskyy offered his condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones as authorities continued responding to the aftermath of the strike.

Russia Accused of Striking 10 Ukrainian Regions Overnight

The attacks on Zaporizhzhia and Lozova were part of a broader wave of strikes reported across Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said Russian forces targeted a total of 10 regions during the evening and overnight period.

Independent reporting also said Zaporizhzhia was among 10 Ukrainian regions struck during the latest Russian attacks.

The assault came during another period of intense long-range attacks in the war, with Russia and Ukraine increasingly deploying drones against targets far beyond the immediate battlefield.

Zelenskyy Warns Moscow Could Expand the War

The Ukrainian president argued that the latest attacks demonstrated that Russia was showing no intention of reducing military pressure.

“Russia is not reducing its escalatory steps,” Zelenskyy said.

He further claimed Moscow was sending signals suggesting it was prepared to expand the conflict.

That assessment represents Zelenskyy’s interpretation of Russian actions as Kyiv continues urging its international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

Kyiv Calls for Continued International Pressure

Zelenskyy argued that sustained pressure remains necessary to push Russia toward ending the war.

Despite demanding stronger pressure on Russia, Zelenskyy stressed that diplomatic efforts should continue simultaneously.

He argued that efforts to increase the costs of the war for Moscow should operate alongside negotiations and international initiatives aimed at achieving peace.

The Ukrainian leader said the upcoming United Nations General Assembly would provide an important opportunity for discussions with other world leaders.

Peace Efforts to Feature at UN General Assembly

Zelenskyy said Ukraine intends to use the UN gathering to discuss how countries can work collectively toward ending the conflict.

“At the UN General Assembly, we will talk about how to achieve peace through joint efforts,” he said.

He described finding a path toward peace as the central responsibility facing international leaders.

The diplomatic push comes as the continuing exchange of drone and missile attacks demonstrates how difficult achieving a meaningful reduction in hostilities remains.
