By A Correspondent | Zimbabwean sungura giant Alick Macheso is set to bring his trademark energy and dancefloor anthems to Leicester this weekend, as he headlines a major Bank Holiday concert in the United Kingdom.
Macheso will perform at Athena Leicester on Saturday, August 29, in a show billed as Bank Holiday Unplugged.
The concert brings together Zimbabwean music and entertainment talent in the UK, with Tocky Vibes and Kurai Makore also on the bill.
Macheso remains one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated sungura musicians, known for his distinctive bass-driven sound, energetic live performances and songs that have built a loyal following across generations and beyond Zimbabwe.
The Leicester show is expected to give fans an opportunity to experience the sungura star’s music live, alongside a lineup of DJs and entertainers.
The programme also features DJ Giant, DJ TongiShto and MC Sebhelebhe, with organisers promising more artists.
Doors open at 8pm, with the event scheduled to run until 3am at Athena Leicester on Queen Street in the city centre.
