The Co-chair and Director of Mobilisation, Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Beta Edu, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term would focus on prosperity, insisting that Nigeria has passed through the reform phase of his administration.
“We have gone through the reform phase already.
“Now it’s time for prosperity,” Edu said in Kaduna on Thursday, while leading the PCC mobilisation team on a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe.
Edu, who expressed confidence in Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, said the campaign was targeting 40 million votes for the President and Vice President Kashim Shettima nationwide.
She said the campaign would move beyond rallies to engage women directly in their homes, markets and communities, understand their challenges and persuade them to support the administration.
To her, “Our plan as the PCC mobilisation directorate is to see that we can mobilise at least close to 40 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And we cannot do this without getting down to the grassroots,” she said.
“We want to engage with women. We want to find out what their challenges are. We want to find out how best we can get to the grassroots.”
Edu therefore urged women leaders in Kaduna to mobilise support peacefully and without intimidation, expressing confidence that effective grassroots engagement would boost the President’s electoral prospects.
She also praised Governor Uba Sani’s administration for what she described as progress in road construction, public transportation and primary healthcare, while commending Balarabe for becoming the first elected female deputy governor in Northwest Nigeria.
Responding, Balarabe said the Kaduna State Government and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) were taking preparations for Tinubu’s planned visit seriously, following a series of meetings to coordinate the event.
She urged the PCC team to sustain mobilisation beyond the rally, stressing that Kaduna’s strategic position as the political capital of Northern Nigeria placed a responsibility on the state to demonstrate its organisational strength.
“We try as much as possible to take any assignment given to us seriously,” she said.
The deputy governor also challenged women to take the campaign message to their communities, insisting that mobilisation should not end when the rally is over.
“Our work as women is to tell all women to be on our side,” she said, urging campaign officials to promote the Renewed Hope agenda and the administration’s record among women at the grassroots.
