Meta and eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica have officially launched their standalone Meta Glasses brand in Japan–introducing 26 style combinations across three distinct frame silhouettes, including a collaborative collection with Kylie Jenner, with prices starting at an accessible JPY 50,600 (approx. AED 1,163).
Following earlier international debuts of the Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta lines, Meta is significantly expanding its hardware footprint in Japan with its dedicated, self-branded Meta Glasses portfolio. Developed in close partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the new product line arrives as a more affordable, fashion-forward alternative to legacy smart eyewear. Spanning 26 styles and lens combinations, the release pairs Meta AI voice interactions, open-ear audio, and hands-free visual capture with full prescription compatibility tailored for everyday Japanese consumers. Some of these new style combinations have yet to arrive globally, including in the UAE, but we expect them to roll out later.
The Japan collection introduces 26 distinct variations grouped under three primary frame silhouettes. These three frame silhouettes include:
Meta Adventurer: A clean, rectangular frame available in standard and large sizes for classic daily wear.
Meta Fury: A bold, substantial architectural silhouette offering a pronounced look.
Meta Glasses by Kylie: A slim, oval profile created in design collaboration with Kylie Jenner (with a premium Starfire edition starting at JPY 68,200 (approx AED 1,567).

Frames are offered in an extensive color palette–including Classic Black, Classic Tortoise, Racing Green, Linen, Merlot, Mahogany, and Sandstone. Buyers can select from standard clear lenses, polarized sunglasses, and light-adaptive Transitions lenses. The entire lineup is prescription-ready (supporting -12 to +2.25 diopters), with Meta and EssilorLuxottica offering post-purchase lens-replacement guarantees that promise long-term support.
The glasses feature an ultra-wide camera for hands-free photo and video capture, alongside open-ear speakers and a wind-reducing multi-microphone array for audio playback and calls.
These Meta AI glasses are powered by the Meta AI assistant with Japanese language localization; users can execute voice prompts to identify objects, translate signs, manage schedules, or receive recommendations without taking out their smartphones. The hardware delivers over 8 hours of standalone battery life, which expands to up to 40 hours when paired with the included foldable charging case.

The Meta Smart Glasses lineup is officially on sale across Japan through the Meta Online Store, EssilorLuxottica optical partner locations, and authorized retail channels. With entry pricing starting at JPY 50,600 (approx. AED 1,163), the collection is positioned roughly 30% lower than previous Ray-Ban Meta iterations (which launched around JPY 73,700 / approx AED 1,694), lowering the barrier to entry for mainstream smart eyewear adoption in the Japanese market.
Meta’s aggressive expansion in Japan demonstrates that smart glasses are finally shedding their bulky 'gadget' stigma in favor of genuine lifestyle accessories. Cutting the entry barrier to JPY 50,600 while offering 26 distinct styles and true prescription support makes this far more than a tech demo. By combining localized AI with EssilorLuxottica’s design heritage, Meta is systematically turning smart eyewear into an everyday fashion staple rather than an early-adopter novelty.
